Sea Battle (Battleship) is a well-regarded classic board game designed for two players, often enjoyed with just pencil and paper. The game simulates a naval conflict between two fleets, providing a strategic challenge on the high seas.

Gameplay Overview

The game is conducted on four boards, with two allocated to each player. Each board is square, comprising a grid of 10x10 cells. Players use one board for arranging their ships and tracking their opponent's shots, while the second board is designated for recording their own shots.

At the start of the game, players secretly configure their ships on their primary board. Each ship occupies a specified number of contiguous cells arranged either horizontally or vertically, dictated by the type of ship. Notably, ships may not overlap or be placed adjacent to one another. The vessel types and quantities remain consistent for both players, featuring four distinct ship types and six varieties of weapons.

• Aircraft Carrier: 4 cells
• Battleship: 3 cells
• Destroyer: 2 cells
• Patrol Boat: 1 cell

Weapons and Damage Scope

• Seamine: 1x1 damage area
• Radar: 3x3 damage area
• Aircraft: 3x3 damage area
• Airbomber: 1x10 damage area
• Air Defence: 2x10 damage area
• Atomic Bomb: 5x5 damage area

Once the ships are positioned and weapons are selected, the game unfolds in a series of turns. Each player targets a cell on their opponent's board during their turn. A successful shot that strikes a ship is marked with a red "X," indicating a hit, while unsuccessful shots receive a standard bomb icon. When all segments of a ship are hit, it is deemed destroyed and displayed visibly on the opponent's board. The game concludes when one player has successfully eliminated all of their opponent's ships.
